Background Remover

Remove the background from any photo automatically. Get a transparent PNG or put your subject on a new colour. Runs on your device – no upload, no sign-up, full resolution.

The first time you use it, the tool needs to download about 170 MB to get ready. Your browser keeps it, so after that it starts straight away and even works offline.

Drop in a photo and the subject is cut out automatically, with Erase and Restore brushes for any touch-ups. You get a transparent PNG at the same resolution as your original, ready for product listings, profile pictures, presentations, stickers and thumbnails.

Unlike most background removers, this one never uploads your photo. All the processing happens inside your browser, so your pictures stay private and there are no limits on size or how many you process.

Getting the best cut-out

  • Use photos where the subject is in focus and stands out from the background.
  • Hair and fur work well, but very fine detail against a busy background can lose a few strands.
  • If something was left behind or cut off, use the Erase and Restore brushes to paint over it.
  • Choose a solid colour background and download as JPG if the image is for a site that doesn’t support transparency.

Processing takes a second or two on computers with a modern graphics chip, and around 5–20 seconds on older laptops and phones.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There are no credits, watermarks or resolution limits, because the work happens on your own device.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your photo is processed on your own device and nothing is sent to a server.

Why is the first run slow?

The first time, the tool downloads about 170 MB of files it needs. They’re saved in your browser, so later runs start straight away.

What if the cut-out isn’t perfect?

Use the Erase brush to remove leftover background and the Restore brush to bring back parts that were cut off. Undo and Start over are there if you make a mistake.

Can I use the results commercially?

Yes. The images are yours to use however you like.
